Round 5 vs Brisbane AFG
Having worked extensively on finishing at training, practice certainly seemed to pay off with Adam Stacey scoring his first goal of the season after only 9 seconds! Lifted by the strong start, Aletti continued to apply pressure on the AFG defense, and within the first 3 minutes they had a penalty. Adam Stacey stepped up, and converted for his second of the match. With a clever piece of play down the right hand side, Brisbane AFG were able to pull a goal back, beating Craig Odron at the near post. However there was no chance for AFG to gain any momentum, as Elliot Brown finished off a careful crafted move from Aletti, restoring the teams 2 goal lead going in to half time. The second half started in a similar fashion to the first, with Aletti putting AFG under pressure and this ultimately provided Adam Stacey the time and space to complete his hattrick and put Aletti in a commanding position. A brief lapse of concentration enabled AFG to bring the scoreline to 4-2, however a thunderbolt strike by Ben Doran from the resulting kick off sealed Aletti’s 5-2.
Round 4 vs South Brisbane
The first meeting between the two teams since South Brisbane’s victory in last seasons Semi Final penalty shootout. Knowing that the performance would need to be much better than last weeks against Bulimba, the Aletti team started strongly, and a wayward shot from Jacob Petro completely sold keeper Conor MacLeod and found its way in to the back of the net. From here Aletti began to assert their dominance in the first half, and a quick brace from Sam Ballschmieter, his 3rd and 4th goals of the season, saw the team go in 3-0 up at half time. Coming out for the second half, Aletti knew that they could not afford to rest, and needed to continue creating chances to put the game away. A number of saves from MacLeod kept South Brisbane in the game, and eventually they were able to pull 1 back; 3-1. Motivated by the goal, South Brisbane stepped up and began to apply pressure to Aletti deep in their own half. As a result, South Brisbane were able to pick up the ball in a good area and make it 3-2. However their comeback seemed to be dealt a blow when they received a red card in the late stages. Aletti were unable to make the most of the extra player, and having squandered a number of chances to seal the game, South Brisbane pulled back and equaliser following a set piece routine. The final minute of the game was end-to-end, with both teams trying to get a winner, however it ended 3 goals a piece.
Round 3 vs Bulimba Bears
Round 3 of the Superliga season saw Aletti suffer their second defeat of the season. Having won in Round 2 against Just Futsal, the team was on a high coming in to the game against league leader Bulimba Bears. Having started the game as the stronger of the two teams Aletti took the lead through David Wallis, scoring his 3rd goal in 2 games. As the first half progressed Bulimba managed to pull back an equaliser. However a clever piece of build up shortly after saw Lucas Bruck put Aletti back in the lead. From here though Bulimba started to apply more pressure, and in a matter of minutes they had turned the game around and led 4-2. Coming out for the second half, the game began to open up with Aletti trying to force their way back in to the game, and Bulimba looking to hit them on the counter. This proved to be a successful tactic for Bulimba with them quickly taking the game to 6-2. Nonetheless, Aletti continued to put up a fight and late goals from Sam Ballschmieter and Ben Doran gave the team a glimer of hope. However one final goal from Bulimba put the game to bed, with it ending 7-4.
Round 2 vs Just Futsal
With both teams looking to get their first points of the season, Aletti and Just Futsal started the game at a high intensity, trying to get the upper hand early on. A powerful free kick from Adam Stacey was saved by Brandon Hoskins, before Elliot Brown scored the only goal of the half, finishing the rebound from 2 yards out at the second attempt, having been left unmarked inside the keepers area. Coming out for the second half, Aletti started out the stronger of the two sides, with their squad depth really showing in the intensity of play. This intensity resulted in numerous chances for Aletti, with the Just Futsal keeper Hoskins put under constant pressure. Eventually, Aletti were able to put their chances away, with goals from Lucas Bruck, David Wallis (2), and Sam Ballschmieter sealing a 5-1 win for Aletti.
Round 1 vs Carina
Aletti started off the season with a tough 6-1 loss at the hands of Carina. Fielding a strong Starting V, Aletti began the game in a positive manner, and midway through the first half took the lead courtesy of a top-corner finish from Ben Doran. However, a fortunate goal from Carina levelled the game, and appeared to shake the confidence of the Aletti players. As the game drew on, Carina started to put together a number of well-crafted plays, and either side of Jonas Jay’s second goal of the game, a quartet of goals from Luis Ruiz took the game away from Aletti.
